Woman, 31, dies day after being booked into custody at Las Colinas

The Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee File photo courtesy of California Board of State and Neighborhood Corrections Investigators on Tuesday continued to probe the in-custody death of an auto-theft suspect after she was located unconscious at the county women s jail in Santee Sergeants at Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility exposed the woman unresponsive in her cell shortly before p m Monday according to the San Diego County Sheriff s Office They performed CPR on her prior to the arrival of crews from American Biological Response and the Santee Fire Department which took over lifesaving efforts administrators announced in a news release An ambulance took the woman to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead at around p m Bureaucrats withheld her identity pending family notification The cause and manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Curative Examiner s Office while the Sheriff s homicide unit following protocol will investigate The woman in custody since Sunday had faced multiple theft-related charges and resisting an officer
